Jojoba Oil – Effective Care for Skin and Hair

Jojoba oil is now indispensable in many different care products. This is primarily due to its conditioning effect on hair and skin. Which applications of jojoba oil are relevant and how it works you will learn in the following article.

The term “jojoba oil” is actually somewhat misleading, because jojoba oil is not an oil in the strict sense but a liquid wax. The wax is pressed from the seeds of the jojoba shrub. The jojoba shrub belongs to the carnation family. The jojoba shrub is native to the (semi-)deserts of North America. The shrub’s fruits are small capsules that contain the oil.

What’s in the jojoba seeds

An oil-like essence is pressed from the jojoba seeds that contains around 50% oil. For this reason the substance is not classified among fatty vegetable oils. Other components of jojoba oil include provitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin B6 as well as various minerals.

Vitamin E is particularly valued in cosmetics because its antioxidant properties are said to slow skin aging. Vitamin B6 is responsible for regulating the skin’s sebum flow. Provitamin A supports healthy hair and skin and is likely better known as beta carotene.

Because the wax becomes liquid at room temperature, it is referred to as an oil. With organic jojoba oil you obtain natural care for your skin and hair.

Jojoba Oil – Application, Care and Effects for the Hair

Jojoba oil is particularly recommended for brittle and dry hair. Flaky, itchy or dry scalps also benefit. In addition, hair acquires a natural suppleness and shine when treated with the oil.

With jojoba oil you give your hair the best possible care. The reason is that jojoba oil does not sit heavily on the hair. It is both nourishing and rich. Hair is strengthened from the inside and the beneficial ingredients penetrate quickly into the hair.

Application options for jojoba oil:

Jojoba oilhair treatment: An intensive hair treatment with organic jojoba oil is especially effective against damaged and dry hair. For a pure-oil mask simply warm several tablespoons of the oil in a water bath. Then massage the oil into the hair, paying particular attention to the damaged ends and lengths. Leave the mask on for about 30 minutes before rinsing it out with warm water and shampoo.

Jojoba oilscalp mask: If your scalp feels tight and is itchy or flaky, an oil mask can provide appropriate relief. Again, warm a few tablespoons of jojoba oil in a water bath. Massage the oil into the scalp and leave it on for 20 minutes. Afterwards you can wash your hair as usual.

Jojoba oil shine booster: After washing your hair as usual you can simply massage a few drops of the oil into towel-dried hair. Then dry your hair as you normally would (or let it air-dry). This process gives your hair an extra measure of protection, shine and smoothness.

Effect of jojoba oil on the skin

Jojoba oil is ideally suited for skin care. With its valuable ingredients and vitamins such as A and E it gives the skin particularly protective, nourishing and smoothing properties.

Application of jojoba oil on the skin

Jojoba oil is an important component in many cosmetic products. But even with pure jojoba oil you can use it in a variety of ways for your skin care.

Jojoba oil as a cleansing oil:

You can efficiently cleanse your face with organic jojoba oil without diminishing your skin’s protective function. Run some warm water into your sink and have a washcloth ready. Distribute a few drops of oil in your palms and massage it into the dry face. Now wet the washcloth and wring it out. Place the washcloth on your face for a few seconds. Then wipe the oil from your face with the washcloth.

Moisturizing facial care:

Jojoba oil is particularly suitable for daily use on the skin. If you do not want to forgo your usual cream, you can enrich it with a few drops of jojoba oil. When applying the pure oil to the skin you should first moisten your skin with some facial toner. This helps the skin to absorb the oil better.

Massage oil: This oil is excellent for massage. It absorbs easily, but not too quickly. Furthermore it provides good slip. The oil is suitable for all skin types, but particularly dry and itchy skin benefit from its use.

Make-up remover: You read that correctly! Even make-up residue can be removed easily with the oil. To do this, drip a few drops of oil onto your fingertips and massage it into your face. Then you can simply wipe the make-up residue off with a dry cloth. Afterwards you should cleanse your face with a wet washcloth.

Lip care: Dry lips can be quite persistent, especially in winter. The oil can be an effective remedy. For this, simply melt 30 g organic jojoba oil together with 10 g beeswax in a water bath. You can then pour the mixture into a small tin.
