Home remedy No. 1 Cleaning windows with soap solution – an old and proven method

The recipe is simple: to prepare the solution, grate 20 grams of curd soap and add 500 ml of slightly warm water. Wait until the curd soap has dissolved nicely. With that you already have a great and affordable household cleaner for your windows. You can also pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray it onto the windows. Alternatively, you can rub the cloth with the curd soap and remove the coarse dirt from the windows. Make sure to rinse the cleaning cloth once or twice in between. Then repeat the cleaning process. Afterwards you should wipe the windows thoroughly with clear water and then rub them dry with a dry cloth.

Home remedy No. 2 Cleaning windows with vinegar

In the past people used only ordinary vinegar, water and a cloth to clean windows. That is how they dealt with stains and dust on the glass within minutes. This is how you make a high-quality vinegar solution: take a bucket and make a water-vinegar solution in it. Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar per 1 liter of water. Dip a window sponge or cloth in the solution to clean the windows, and start cleaning. You can also use a microfiber cloth for this. Don’t forget to clean the window frames with a sponge dipped in warm soapy water. Finally, rub dry with a cloth.

Home remedy No. 3 Cleaning windows with ammonia

ammonia has a pungent, distinctive odor that cannot be mistaken for anything else. It dissolves acids well, so it is not difficult to deal with old deposits using it. The most important thing is to calculate the proportion correctly. We offer you two solution options:

Option 1: Fill a bucket with 5 liters of water and add 5 ml of ammonia, mix well;
Option 2: Pour 200 ml of water into a spray bottle, then add 5 drops of ammonia and 100 ml of glycerin. Shake before use. Then simply moisten a cotton cloth with the prepared solution and clean the window. Finally wipe once more with a clean cloth. The windows will be nicely clean!

Home remedy No. 4 Cleaning windows with glycerin

Another agent you can use to clean your windows is glycerin. Glycerin is slightly water-soluble and has hygroscopic properties. To prevent dust from sticking to the windows, prepare a mixture of seven tablespoons of glycerin, three tablespoons of water and ten drops of ammonia. Spray the windows with this mixture and clean them with a paper towel.

Home remedy No. 5 Cleaning windows with alcohol

In winter it often happens that windows fog up and fingerprints remain. To keep your windows clean in winter, use spirits or alcohol. Moisten a cotton cloth and clean your windows.

Home remedy No. 6 Cleaning windows with black tea

Black tea contains tannins. These help to loosen dirt from the windows. And here is the home remedy recipe: Take 2 black tea bags and pour boiling water over them. Steep for about 10 minutes. Add the black tea to your cleaning water. Another tip against streaks: add the juice of one lemon to this mixture.

Further tips for streak-free results

Never clean your windows in direct sunlight. Why? The cleaning solution on the glass dries too quickly in direct sunlight and that causes streaks. Do not wash the window-cleaning cloths with fabric softener beforehand, as that also causes streaks. Consequently, you should dry-polish the glass promptly for streak-free results. It is also helpful to wash the windows using a defined technique. First, organize your workspace — remove everything from the windowsill and take down the curtains or blinds. Clean the windowsill thoroughly. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove all debris from the surface. Moisten a sponge with water and wipe the windowsill thoroughly. Remember to change the cleaning water several times if it becomes dirty. It is recommended to clean the windows at least twice a year.
